Jack Ma’s family has added to their international property portfolio with the purchase of a London mansion that used to serve as the Italian embassy.
Cathy Ying Zhang, the wife of the billionaire Alibaba founder, bought the Belgravia home for £19.5mn last autumn, according to Land Registry records and people familiar with the deal.
The property adds to the family’s vast portfolio of real estate beyond China’s borders. After angering top Chinese officials in 2020, Jack Ma has spent most of his time out of the country, maintaining a low profile and for a time living in Tokyo.
