Venezuela has cancelled energy agreements with Trinidad and Tobago, a day after a US warship docked in the Caribbean country and amid rising tensions between Washington and Caracas.
Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s authoritarian president, announced his government was “suspending all energy co-operation with Trinidad and Tobago” in a television appearance on Monday.
He said the decision had been taken “in response to the Caribbean nation’s adherence to a US aggression plan”.
