US President Donald Trump has shot down South Korea’s suggestion to consider easing sanctions against North Korea, saying that Seoul can only lift the restrictions on the rogue regime with American approval.
His blunt comments came after Kang Kyung-wha, Seoul’s foreign minister, said on Wednesday that South Korea was considering lifting some of its domestic sanctions against the North to resume inter-Korean economic projects amid improving relations.
“They won’t do that without our approval,” Mr Trump said. “They do nothing without our approval.”
