Shares in companies with links to the Chinese island of Hainan popped on Monday after President Xi Jinping said the province would be developed into a pilot free trade zone.
Mr Xi said at an event to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Hainan special economic zone on Friday that the Communist party had decided to develop the island into a pilot free trade zone and establish a free trade port.
State news agency Xinhua said the pilot will focus on sectors including seeds, agriculture, medical care, sports, telecommunication and finance.
