Bank of England security workers wearing Mark Carney masks picketed the central bank’s offices on Tuesday in the first strike by staff in 50 years on Tuesday.
Staff held a strike over low pay, saying the offer made for pay increases by the Bank is below inflation for the second year running. Arbitration talks mediated by Acas broke down on Monday.
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell joined the workers on the picket line.
