South Korea’s presidential office has said the deployment of a US missile shield in the country should be suspended for now, according to state news agency Yonhap.
The presidential office said the the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (Thaad), should also be subject to an environmental impact assessment.
“We are not saying the two launchers and other equipment that has already been deployed should be withdrawn. But those that have yet to be deployed will have to wait,” a senior presidential office official said, according to the news agency.
