Donald Trump waded into controversy again on Tuesday after suggesting that supporters of the Second Amendment could somehow block Hillary Clinton from appointing liberal justices to the Supreme Court, presumably by using their right to bear arms.
“Hillary wants to abolish — essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Mr Trump told the crowd. “If she gets to pick her judges, [there is] nothing you can do folks. Although [for] the Second Amendment people maybe there is, I don’t know. But I tell you what, that will be a horrible day if Hillary gets to put her judges [in].”
Shortly after Mr Trump spoke, the New York billionaire’s campaign sent an email to reporters entitled “Trump Campaign Statement on Dishonest Movement”, alleging that Mr Trump had not been calling for gun owners to shoot Mrs Clinton or any justice that she might nominate.
