Tourist spending on the British high street returned to growth last year despite volatility in China, a weak renminbi and political unrest in Nigeria and Russia.
New research by Global Blue, which tracks transactions by international travellers, found 2 per cent more was spent in the UK last year by visitors than in 2014.
The figures, based on remittances of VAT to international shoppers, were damped by weak demand from Chinese tourists, who have been hit by slowing income growth and a depreciating currency.
