Morgan Stanley has been contacting potential investors about taking minority stakes in the Postal Savings Bank of China, ahead of a potential public listing of the behemoth in 2016.
But its inquiries have so far been met with a lukewarm response, these investors say, in an indication of how cautious sentiment has become over its banks and China’s broader economic prospects.
The US investment bank has reached out to strategic investors including lenders with a strong presence in Asia, and both domestic and overseas investors.
