A Chinese company yesterday opened one of the world’s biggest motor press shops for large car parts — with the help of 40 engineers from Coventry.
Shandong Yongtai in northern China, a privately owned industrial group, is using the skills and knowhow of Covpress, a 100-year-old West Midlands precision metal pressing company it acquired in 2013.
The link has already transformed the fortunes of the UK company, resulting in increased investment and a near-50 per cent rise in its workforce. Turnover is up 70 per cent in the two years since the takeover.
