Apple unveiled thinner and faster new iPads that are tied closely to its new digital payments service, at a low-key press event in Cupertino on Thursday.
Amid a slowing tablet market and an expected decline in iPad sales, Apple added its Touch ID fingerprint reader and faster chips to its larger Air slate.
First revealed last month alongside the new iPhone 6, Apple Pay will become available in the US on Monday. As well as paying in high-street stores such as McDonald’s, Walgreen’s and Macy’s with the new smartphone, owners of the new iPads will be able to make online purchases through apps using Touch ID.
