It was a modest drop but Taiwan's unemployment rate fell to a six-year low in July, highlighting the economy's resilience despite a slowdown in mainland China.
Taiwan's unemployment rate fell from 3.97 per cent in June to 3.95 per cent, just beating estimates and continuing a steady downward trend from an average 4.18 per cent in 2013. This is the lowest jobless rate since June 2008 (see chart).
The labour force grew by 42,000 last month, a third straight gain, with the number of employed people rising for a fifth month, by 29,000.
