Bloomberg News has suspended a reporter on suspicions of leaking details about an investigative story that was allegedly quashed because it would damage the media company’s operations in China.
The news organisation suspended Michael Forsythe, a prizewinning reporter, on Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the case. Another person said that when Bloomberg employees try to access Mr Forsythe on their system, a message says he is on “HR leave”.
The suspension came after three media groups, including the Financial Times, reported that Bloomberg had been accused of axing a story that alleged financial ties between one of China’s richest men and the family members of senior Communist party members.
