Research In Motionplans to expand its board in an attempt to assuage investor concernsabout the performance of the struggling Canadian BlackBerry smartphone maker and head off a potential shareholder revolt.
Barbara Stymiest, RIM’s chairman, told shareholders at the company’s annual meeting in Waterloo, Ontario, that she understood their frustration and acknowledged that the -company’s recent financial -performance had “not met expectations”.
Ms Stymiest said RIM was “actively seeking to augment the board” and had hired an outside recruitment company to assist in the process.
