The Obama administration insisted yesterday that North Korea still faced isolation even as it emerged that the White House was deeply involved in Bill Clinton's trip to Pyongyang this week, which secured the release of two US journalists.
Hillary Clinton, US secretary of state, said North Korea still faced a choice between entering into international negotiations on its nuclear programme or “a path that is filled with provocative actions which further isolates them from the international community”.
She said Mr Clinton's visit was a “private mission that was undertaken by my husband”.
