US personal income fell slightly more than expected in June as payments from the US economic stimulus tapered off.
The findings brought concerns that consumption spending might not rise strongly enough to drive the country quickly out of recession.
Personal income fell 1.3 per cent, its biggest drop since January 2005, compared with the average 1.1 per cent decline expected by analysts surveyed by Bloomberg news agency.
