Equity markets in the region hit multi-month highs yesterday as commodity stocks were buoyed by fresh data from China showing manufacturing activity in Asia's second-largest economy expanding for another month.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index closed up 4 per cent to 18,888.59, its highest close since September.
The Shanghai Composite rose 3.4 per cent to 2,721.28, its best since August, after China's official purchasing managers' index (PMI) recorded its third successive reading above the 50 level, which separates expansion from contraction.
