The prime minister of the Houthi rebel government in Yemen was killed in an Israeli air strike on Thursday, the Iran-backed militants said on Saturday.
Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahawi died alongside other officials in the Houthi administration during a government meeting, according to a statement from the movement.
Although Israel’s military has declined to comment on whether or not it is responsible for Rahawi’s death, a spokesperson acknowledged that it had bombed a “conference hall” in the Houthi stronghold of Sana’a where “senior officials were meeting”.
