
The European Space Agency is set to launch a €1.4bn space telescope to map billions of galaxies across the cosmos, providing essential clues for scientists trying to solve the mystery of the “dark universe”.
The Euclid mission, the culmination of almost 20 years of development, will travel 1.5mn km into space. From there the telescope’s highly accurate observing technology will map the past 10bn years of cosmic history, helping experts define the dark energy and matter that they believe dominate the known universe.
